SOFTWARE FOR FOOD INDUSTRY
Food industry is one of the most important sectors in the world. With SAM ERP2 and its features you can manage administrative and commercial processes, goods and also quality controls and food traceability (in full compliance with the “Food Law” EC 178/2002).
It also includes full management of logistics (with the support of INDICOD “UCC/EAN-128” “SSCC” standards), an essential tool for certifying production process quality of all products involved in the supply chain (ISO 2200).

Main Features
Warehouses, internal and external Logistics (EAN, UCC, SSCC etc.), Labeling
With ERP2 you can instantly detect and locate products (including their dimensions, “anti-contamination” characteristics, SSCC labeling and so on), optimize space and handle routes, with consequent reduction of average times and improved customer service, due to drastic cuts in non-conformity.
You can also manage shipping documents.
Batches and expiration dates, FIFO and FEFO
It is possible to manage batches and their respective production dates, shelf life and/or expiration dates for each raw material or product.
When we talk about food factories, we also speak of liquids and grain, usually contained in siloses. Management of silo warehouses allows access to batches, a crucial function for human consumption.
Quality Controls (HACCP etc.)
ERP2 makes it possible to manage company quality efficiently during normal operating flows, in full compliance with product control.
Every transfer of raw material can be accompanied by Measurement and Analysis in the internal laboratory with recording of transfers, opening of a Non-Conformity report (if applicable) automatically linked to sale process and to vendor accounting.
Traceability
Product quality is an essential feature in food industries/factories. Conscious knowledge of ingredients plays a major role in order to safeguard consumer health.
By managing operational processes, it is possible to follow products along the supply chain simply and automatically, identify their origin, and collect key information that should be stressed on markings, labels or certifications.
Using traceability tools ensures conformity of products according to specific regulations about food safety (see the complete law here).
The integrated system also enables you to make commercial use of traceability through the ERP’s operating portals. The qualitative characteristics of raw materials and products can be made available by setting up safeguards for consumers.
Organization of Transport
The organization of transport can be optimized by saving data for each loading/unloading operation.
You can calculate and integrate ancillary costs, thanks to the classification of vehicles and the management of the transport contractor’s price lists, but also thanks to the submission of transport purchase orders through automatic pre-invoicing to vendors.
The integration with Google Maps makes it possible to conduct quick, precise checks of the route and actual km to be traveled.
Real-time production control
The system ensures effective planning of processing lines and outsourcing phases.
MES (Manufacturing Execution System) enables you to monitor the progress of production by means of functions related to sampling and quality control cycles, while the management of batches means that the operator can always be prompted to use the most suitable raw materials.
The connection between all the departments of production and stocking through WiFi terminals makes it possible to achieve the maximum efficiency during production.
Production plant maintenance (Industry 4.0)
A company, in order to be effective, has to respect the Business Continuity, which means that it has to guarantee definite production and delivery times, but also has to take into account perishability of products.
The Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is a predictive module, which helps to manage the maintenance of company implants and equipment, warning when there is the urge to replace or repair something. Its role is crucial, considering that helps to reduce a business’s risk rating and optimize the use of plants, in conformity with World Class Manufacturing (WCM).
The CMMS module is integrated and the entire flow is automatic: when pre-set limits are exceeded, the system proposes a Maintenance Order (MO), which contains all the information needed by the maintenance technician to solve the problem and get the job done. For maximum effectiveness, it needs to be interconnected with electronic devices that enable real-time communication between the ERP and the production plants.
Sales Process Management (attempted sale, SFA, etc.)
Sales Force Automation and Attempted Sale procedures are the best way to integrate the sales force into a company’s business processes. Through the sharing of new prospects, visiting rounds and credit recovery, they allow good efficiency gains.
They also make it easier to involve the sales force in activities planned by the company’s CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
Quick sales system is another important feature that could be customizable, which uses sales history to simplify re-ordering, while also making it possible to list Substitute Articles and Alternative Articles for each article, for use in the sales phase.
“License plate/van” type warehouse management is available with procedures for rapid transfer of quantities and batches.
Relationships with major retail chains
The commercial rules about relationships with major retail chains can be reproduced in the Sales area of SAM ERP2, where you can set and fully manage different levels of application of prices, line-item discounts, multi-agent, document-specific promotions and period-specific bonuses.
The possibility of holding campaigns in specific periods and setting targets by product mix constitutes an excellent tool for managing the real selling price and also enables the Sales Director to lead the sales force extremely effectively.
The integration of all the major EDI standards allows efficiency gains in the management of document flows by minimizing recourse to manual operations.
